Ways To Fix Blue Screen Of Death
Uninstall the suspected program – the BSOD often seems mysterious, as it doesn’t display the root cause of the error. So, assuming that the recent installation might be the reason, you first need to think about which program you installed just before the error occurred, as it may be suspected to be incompatible with your device.
To uninstall a program, open the control panel. Select the “uninstall a program” option mentioned below the “programs.”
You will see a list of programs installed on your PC along with their installation dates. Right-click the most recently installed program and select “uninstall.”
One other way to delete your programs is through the settings tab. In settings, click “apps,” then select the first option among the list – “apps and features.” Click the suspected program, then choose the “uninstall” button.
Uninstall the faulty drivers – to analyze which specific driver is causing your windows to crash, install the software named – NirSoft free BlueScreenView. The software displays a list of DUMP files. These files are created when an error occurs. Double-click the DUMP file to know the faulty device driver. A list will appear mentioning all the details like – dump file name, crash time, bug check string, bug check code, etc. Check the Caused by Driver and Product Name section to see the faulty device drive name.
Once you find the defective device’s driver’s name, open the “device manager” through the windows search bar. Click to expand the device category. Right-click the defective device, and click “uninstall.”
Troubleshoot the issue with safe mode – restarting the windows through safe mode may help you fix the error. Press and hold the power button for a few seconds. Repeat this step three times to launch the advanced startup settings. Once you complete the first step, you will see the screen displaying troubleshooting options. Select the “startup settings” among the list of options, and then click “restart.”
While restarting your device, press “f4,” then select the “enable safe mode option.” Now you can start uninstalling the device drivers in safe mode.
Detect and fix the issue through Event Viewer – open “Windows Administrative Tools” and click “Event Viewer.” You can also directly open the event viewer app through the windows ten search bar. On the event viewer app, click the “Action” tab and select “create custom view.” In the dialogue box, select the specific time range when the BSOD error occurred.
Step out to the next option, which is “event level.” Check the “error” checkbox. Click the “event logs” option now, then check the “windows logs” checkbox on the dropdown menu and click “Ok.” Fill in any random name in the custom view dialogue box and click “Ok.” Now, you can see the error events.
For a more detailed view, click on the “Details” tab. Select the “friendly view” for an easy-to-understand message format. Now, you can copy the error message and paste it into your web browser to search for the relevant fixes to these errors.
